Sometimes clothes feel dirty or not quite fresh even though they've just been washed. It can be frustrating, but there are several common causes – and easy ways to fix the problem.
Common causes
• Too little detergent or the wrong type: A detergent that is not suitable for the material or level of soiling of the garment can cause the laundry not to be cleaned properly.
• The washing machine is overloaded: When the machine is full, the water and detergent do not have room to circulate properly, which means that the dirt does not dissolve.
• Washing at too low a temperature: Dirt, grease and bacteria do not always dissolve at low temperatures, especially on heavier garments such as jeans or towels.
• The washing machine needs to be cleaned: Limescale, dirt and detergent residue in the machine can stick to the clothes and affect the washing results.
• Excessive spinning or wrong program: Spinning too hard can cause fibers to be “pressed together” and retain dirt.
Tips for cleaner laundry
• Follow the care label and select the correct program and temperature.
• Use the correct type and amount of detergent for the garment and the level of soiling.
• Don't wash too much at once – the machine should have room for water circulation.
• Clean the washing machine regularly with machine cleaning or a warm program with the machine empty.
• Check the filter and drum for dirt and lint.
